Barry Lester brings the Blinder Group over 30 years’ experience in the UK newspaper market as the founding director of Boiling the Frog an English media consultancy business.  

(The consultancy's name Boiling the Frog is based on the fable that a frog, placed in a pot of cold water that is gradually heated, never realises the danger it’s in and would be boiled alive. The hypothetical boiled frog is a useful metaphor for a very real problem faced by all publishers: the difficulty of responding to disasters that creep up a bit at a time).

  Barry’s media career started in the early 80’s working in the circulation department of Essex County Newspapers, an English publisher with a history stretching back to 1831.

With over 30 years’ experience working in regional publishing the last 20 in new media development for Newsquest Media Group part of Gannett Europe. Barry also understands the constraints of corporate life all too well having reported to operational boards for most his career delivering the inside knowledge on what is needed to help the c-suite with the all-important decisions.

He is a driven proactive ideas person, ever the optimist who doesn’t take no for an answer with 20 years’ experience in New Media development, he can bridge the technology sales gap by inspiring people, building their confidence with a vision to successfully grow multimedia revenues.

He has implemented numerous low risk strategies for new products, services and sales using data research and staff input ensuring low R & D costs and speed to market.

Barry’s home in the UK is on Mersea Island in the Blackwater estuary, ideally suited to his passion for sailing.
