Erik Smelser is Chief Marketing Officer of SEAing Global Holdings LLC (a mobile app development company focused on launching a social media app for boaters) and President of The Shoreliner Media Company (a digital marketing firm based in Old Saybrook, CT specializing in the digital marketing needs of small- to medium-sized businesses). Erik also serves as an advisor to Shoreline Perks, LLC , a pay-for-performance digital marketing firm, where he advises the company on revenue and expense forecasts, profitability estimates, email marketing, and social media audience acquisition. He was responsible for migrating that company to its present ecommerce and mobile commerce platforms.
Prior to his current duties, Erik Smelser served for two years as the Director of Digital and Media Sales for Bermuda’s largest media outlet. Prior to that he served as a digital marketing executive for LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell where he advised the legal field on effective website conversion strategies, search engine marketing/optimization, pay-per-click advertising, and social media marketing. Prior to his role with LexisNexis Martingale-Hubbell Erik served as a regional Vice President of Sales for Digital First Media and the General Manager of Connecticut Magazine. In that dual role he directed millions of dollars in print and digital advertising sales at nine media properties across three states. For two straight years his leadership resulted in double digit growth for the company’s digital advertising products.
Prior to Digital First Media,Erik created the St. Louis Sports Agency, a media operation of reporters, photographers, statisticians and web designers devoted to covering athletics at more than 325 high schools and local colleges within the St. Louis metropolitan area. In 2010 the agency landed $360,000 in annual underwriting, won a President’s Award for Innovation, and was nominated by Editor & Publisher magazine as the best sports website in America with less than one million unique monthly visitors. Erik has a broad media background that includes new media, advertising sales, new product development, and market research. He has been married for 18 years to his wife Ashley and is actively involved in the lives of his two children -- William, 15, and Claire, 11. He is an avid runner who has competed in more than one dozen marathons, distance relays and obstacle runs.
